Quick Quake Briefing: January 14 earthquake near Mamuju, West Sulawesi, Indonesia
The EERI Northern California Regional Chapter and the EERI Learning from Earthquakes Program co-hosted a webinar on the January 14, 2021 earthquake near Mamuju, West Sulawesi in Indonesia. The M6.2 earthquake caused widespread damage to buildings and infrastructure. Hundreds of thousands of people were affected and at least 100 were killed. The quick briefing provided an overview of the earthquake by speakers from the Institut Teknologi Bandung and BNPB (National Disaster Management Agency). The webinar was moderated by Rob Olshansky, who led an EERI reconnaissance team to study the impacts of the 2018 Palu, Indonesia earthquake and tsunami.
