Why Attend
It’s no secret that the role of a CPA is fundamentally shifting, but what does that mean from a practical standpoint? What skills are required in the new digital age, how might individuals and firms prepare, and what trends on the horizon should you be considering?
This is a virtual conference designed to give voice to everyone participating. During the live event, you will have exclusive access to pre-recorded sessions led by industry experts - and while these sessions play, a chat will run simultaneously giving you the option to communicate with the speakers and attendees to flesh out ideas together in a meaningful and practical way. After the event, all participants will receive a whitepaper capturing the collective knowledge shared during the event from both the speakers and attendees alike.
Recommended CPE credits: 3.

In this opening session, we will identify major shifts that are impacting our profession, including deregulation and licensing, automation & AI, and the generation gap. By the end, you will be prepared and excited to embrace the opportunities ahead.

To be future ready, how do we leverage new tools and systems to properly capture the opportunities in front of us? In this session, our panelists will discuss the implications of such trends as emerging technologies, refocused investment priorities, and data analytics. We have an opportunity to work together to shape the future we want. The pace of change isn’t slowing anytime soon, so we need to leverage our history to understand our future. How it Works
This virtual conference is co-founded by three organizations: Maryland Association of CPAs, Montana Society of CPAs, and Matchbox Virtual Media.
Montana and Maryland CPA societies are convinced that the best way to prepare the industry to be ready for this change is through collaboration, so that all can be part of creating the best future for the profession and their members.
Matchbox Virtual Media creates virtual conferences that drive conversations that matter and foster connections that last. Matchbox provides purpose driven organizations strategies to build collaborative networks and leverage the knowledge and experience of their members in order to facilitate progress, education, and awareness.
This is a one-day event from 12:00 - 3:00 PM ET on October 3rd. Each session is an hour long and is pre-recorded. Pre-recording allows the speakers to spend the entire session period in the attendee chat answering your burning questions. At the same time, you’ll be able to communicate with the other attendees through the same chat. Join in on whichever conversation is most interesting to you!
It sure is! If you participate in the live event, it is eligible for up to 3 credits.
This unique conference artefact contains the insights from the survey, quotes from speakers and event day chat discussions as well as documentation and websites that will help individuals learn, connect with each other and keep stoking the discussion.
Tickets are $75 per person. In the spirit of inclusivity, we are offering a discounted rate of $20 per ticket for students.
This conference exists in the virtual space, as it gives us the opportunity to bring together industry professionals from around the world.
The sessions are pre-recorded so that the speakers can spend the time answering attendee questions. They will be typing furiously to reply to as many questions as possible in the live chat!
This will depend on the individual preferences of our speakers.
Absolutely! Throughout the sessions, there will also be a chat running simultaneously.
Yes! You will be able to go back and rewatch the video sessions after the fact.
We expect that event attendees respect each other and behave in a generally civilized fashion. Members should respect common rules for public behavior, personal interaction, common courtesy, and respect. Abusive, harassing, or threatening behavior towards any other attendee or directed at any conference member or partner (even those not present at the conference) will not be tolerated and the event moderators reserve the right to remove chat privilege access on a case-by-case basis.
We are proudly using a Learning Management System called CE21.
Though mobile access is available, for the best experience, we highly recommend larger devices, such as desktops/laptops. As for browsers, we recommend using Chrome for the smoothest user experience on any website. Similarly, we strongly recommend against Internet Explorer 8. Here's a handy link to download Edge, which is Microsoft’s move away from IE:
