Anne-Marie Balzano

Anne-Marie Balzano is the director of leadership and governance at NAIS. She designs and implements learning opportunities for school administrators and trustees, conducts research on issues facing independent schools, and collaborates with other NAIS teams engaged in these endeavors. She hosts The Trustee Table, an NAIS podcast that provides insights and information for trustees, board chairs, and school administrators on critical governance and leadership topics. She collaborated with Jack Creeden on the NAIS book The Board Chair Handbook and is now leading several governance projects, including the development of board assessment tools and resources. She has delivered presentations on building leadership capacity across teams, managing school change, and workshops for trustees and heads of school at the NAIS Annual Conference and other events. A former head of school and associate professor of education leadership, Anne-Marie is deeply committed to supporting independent school leaders and the children they serve.
