Carla Broyles is senior editor at The Washington Post, focusing on recruitment and career development. For more than 20 years, she has served in senior roles including deputy news editor, graphics editor, art director and staff writer. Her award-winning work on The Post’s biggest stories has been recognized by the Society for News Design and NABJ. She has also
taught publication design at Howard University. In 2009, she was named a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University and taught a journalism course in Harvard’s writing program. For years, she worked with The Post’s Young Journalists Development Program to mentor students and champion diversity in coverage and hiring.
