Debbie Reed’s life’s work has been in schools and she brings a wealth of experience to the work of a consultant. During her forty years as an educator, she has worked in public and private schools, urban and suburban schools, parochial and nonsectarian schools, co-ed schools and single-sex schools.
In June of 2014, Debbie retired as the Head of School at Polytechnic School, a K-12 coed independent school enrolling 860 students in Pasadena, California. During her 12 years at Polytechnic, the school celebrated its centennial, adopted and completed a master plan which resulted in the renovation of and construction on the 14-acre campus and raised the funds necessary for this considerable project.
For seven years, Debbie headed the Seven Hills School in Cincinnati, Ohio, a PreK-12 school enrolling 1,000 students on two distinctive campuses. During her tenure she was responsible for working with the Board of Trustees to develop a strategic plan that included the acquisition of adjacent property, increased enrollment, and an extensive construction project with an accompanying capital campaign, the largest in the school’s history.
At Harvard Westlake School where she worked for twelve years, Debbie held a number of administrative positions including: Head of the Middle School with the responsibility for the daily operations of an eleven-acre campus with 750 students and 80 full time faculty; Seventh Grade Dean; and Director of Admissions. Throughout her career, she taught English, giving her a keen appreciation of the work of the faculty.
Professionally, she belongs to the Country Day School Headmasters Association of which she was President, and The Headmasters Association. Debbie served on the California Association of Independent Schools Board and the Oakwood School Board. Currently, she is a trustee of Mount St. Mary’s University, Sequoyah School and Chandler School.
