Dr. Kimberly Smith has been fighting for causes since her teen years as a self described “troublemaker” demonstrating for civil rights. After 20 years of service as an infectious diseases physician and HIV researcher focused on addressing racial and gender disparities, Dr. Smith joined ViiV Healthcare, the only pharmaceutical company 100% dedicated to HIV. Today, in an industry with few women or people of color in leadership positions, she’s the company’s Head of Research & Development. At Viiv, she has launched more than 25 late-stage clinical trials for seven new medicines making invaluable strides towards ending the HIV epidemic.
