Gary Washburn

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gary Washburn has been a sports writer for 20-plus years and now has delved into the book writing game with a biography of the great Spencer Haywood. Gary works as an NBA reporter/columnist for the Boston Globe and has worked at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, MLB.com, Contra Costa Times, Los Angeles Daily News, and the Long Beach Press Telegram. He is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, where he is Vice President of Print for the organization’s Sports Task Force and also President of the local Boston chapter. He is also a graduate student in the University of Nebraska’s journalism program and a UC Berkeley grad.
