Joiava Philpott

Joiava Philpott is Senior Vice-President & General Counsel for Cox Communications, Inc. Previously Joiava was General Counsel of Astro Turf, LLC, Vice President, Government Affairs at Charter Communications, and Assistant General Counsel, KMC Telecom. Joiava began her career with the City of Atlanta Law Department advising on telecommunications and cable law.

Joiava has served in various leadership and board roles with nonprofits including American Corporate Counsel Association, National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications, Federal Communications Bar Association, and Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential. Joiava has been recognized by Black Enterprise Magazine, Diversity & the Bar Magazine and by Cable Fax Magazine.

Joiava holds a JD and MBA from the American University and a B.S., in business management from Hampton University. She completed executive development at Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government, WICT Betsy Magness Leadership Institute, and NAMIC ELDP with UVA’s, Darden School of Business.
