Julia Weng is a senior Broadcast Journalism major, Criminology minor student at Howard University and originally from Southern California. As a student reporter, she is constantly pursuing her passion in multimedia communications, journalism and storytelling in the political mecca that is our nation’s capital. Currently, Julia is National Public Radio’s Visual Newscast intern. Previously, she interned with Bloomberg Law as a privacy and data security news intern, and Fox News @ Night with Shannon Bream as a production intern. On campus, at The Mecca, she serves as the President of the Howard University Student Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (HUABJ) and the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of The Liberato: Howard University’s Political Review. During her time on Hilltop High, she created, produced and reported a variety of multimedia content that has been published by Howard University News Service, The Hilltop, Truth Be Told, and on the Howard University PBS affiliate station, WHUT-TV, which broadcasts to more than 2 million viewers daily. Two of her published works have been nominated for Hearst Journalism News Awards.
