National PTA
Laura Bay is Past President of National PTA (2015-2017) and has served for over 13 years with National PTA and a previous 12 years with the Washington State PTA. Ms. Bay believes that supporting the “whole child” is crucial to our communities and families and that is why after completing her term as National PTA president, she continues her advocacy and leadership work with National PTA in addition to supporting mental health advocacy through two national mental health organizations.
Ms. Bay currently serves on the board of directors and is the public policy committee chair of Mental Health America, she also serves as an advisory board member for the National Center for School Mental Health. For nearly 20 years she has been an educator in the Bremerton School District. Laura started as a classroom teacher and currently works as a District Coordinator of Assessment and Instruction. Ms. Bay works with building staff and principals supporting SEL initiatives, student learning/assessments and supports new teachers. Ms. Bay holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Masters in Middle Level Education (Math and Science) from Old Dominion University. She earned a residency certificate in Educational Leadership and Policy (Administrator and Principal) from the University of Washington. Ms. Bay is the mother of three adult children, two adorable grandchildren and a faithful Corgi – Furby. Ms. Bay and her husband of 39 years reside in Poulsbo Washington.
