Mackenzie Thompson
Scott County School District
Mackenzie Thompson is in her eighth year of teaching ELA at the secondary level. Mackenzie was awarded the Teacher of the Year in both 2016 and 2017. Mackenzie has a Bachelor’s of Science in English and a Master’s of Art in Secondary Administration. Mackenzie is constantly striving to find new ways to incorporate meaningful technology into her classroom so that she can share that knowledge with her fellow educators. In an attempt to become a more well-rounded educator in the brink of blended learning, Mackenzie began teaching virtually to students all over the world. Immersing herself in online education strengthened her skillset to better engage students in her classroom. Mackenzie’s passion for education stems from a passion for creating a better tomorrow for her students. When she isn’t teaching, Mackenzie can be found on her farm. She and her husband, a fellow educator, spend their days riding horses, chasing chickens, and chasing their spunky toddler around the farm.
