In a career spanning over thirty years in schools, Mark McKee has been dedicated to the magic of the classroom and the ability of schools to change lives. In his seventh year as Head and President of Viewpoint School in Calabasas, he is leading one of the largest K-12 independent schools in California in a focus on future readiness, creativity, and deep learning. Previously he served eight years as Head of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School outside San Francisco. He formerly worked in teaching and leadership roles in California and Connecticut. Mark is a graduate of Harvard College with an A.B. in Classics and English, and he has completed master’s and doctoral programs at UC Irvine and Teachers College, Columbia University, and a certificate in Evidence Based Coaching at Fielding Graduate University. He has served on the boards of several independent schools and nonprofit organizations for educational access. An avid marathoner and triathlete, Mark also enjoys reading and spending time with his wife and their two adult daughters.
