Dr. Marquita Smith

Before joining the faculty at the University of Mississippi as assistant dean of graduate programs, Marquita Smith, EdD, worked in various newsrooms for 16 years. Most recently she served as Virginia Beach bureau chief at The Virginian-Pilot. In 2008, Smith went on leave from The Pilot to complete a Knight International Journalism Fellowship in Liberia. Also in West Africa, Smith was a Fulbright Scholar for the 2016-2017 academic year at the University of Ghana, Legon.
