Melissa Ketner
DHSc, MSW, LCSW
Melissa Ketner, LCSW is an Assistant Professor in the MSW Program at the University of Indianapolis. She currently teaches in areas of behavioral health, field, clinical practice, and health care issues. Her research interests are in interprofessional education and practice, incivility, oncology, and other health issues involving the role of social work.
Additionally, Melissa currently serves oncology patients and their families at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Her professional work history includes working in settings involving mental health, child welfare services, medical social work, and hospice care. Melissa’s presentation represents her dissertation research to complete a Doctorate in Health Sciences from Indiana State University. The research addressed the experiences, challenges, rewards, methods to manage stress, and growth coming from the advanced cancer caregiving experience. There was a specific focus on rural communities, knowing these areas lack the same amount of resource availability as larger areas.
