Ralph Cooper

Ralph Cooper’s list of accomplishments is a long and lengthy one. The veteran broadcasting legend, whose career began in 1969 as a reporter for the Forward Times newspaper, has interviewed some of the greatest sports figures of our lifetime such as Satchel Paige, Jesse Owens, Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, and countless others. Cooper is also a print journalism legend in the Houston area having spent 30 years (1998-2018) as the Sports Editor of the Defender, a weekly African American publication. Even with all that he has accomplished, which includes being inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, as well as a Lifetime Achievement award from the Houston Association of Black Journalists, Cooper is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. In addition to his daily “Sports Rap” show on KCOH, Cooper also co-hosts a sports talk show with Devan Wade, and co-hosts a BNET Internet show with Sonia Rivera.
