Rochelle Riley, author, essayist and former newspaper columnist, is the director of arts and culture for the city of Detroit, an inductee into the N.C. and Michigan Journalism Halls of Fame and winner of the 2017 NABJ Ida B. Wells Award. She a co-founder of Letters to Black Girls, an initiatie to give letters of advice and encouragement from Black women to Vlack girls across the country. Riley is also the author of The Burden: African Americans and the Enduring Impact of Slavery
