Sandra Dawson Long Weaver is one of the 44 founders of the National Association of Black Journalists and active in the Nashville chapter of NABJ. Long Weaver is the Project Coordinator for the Black Press Grant administered by NABJ and funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Her 47-year career working for daily and weekly newspapers include The Philadelphia Inquirer where she was Vice President for Newsroom Operations and was the first female African American Managing Editor. Since 2012, she has been the Editorial Director for The Tennessee Tribune in Nashville. In 2013, she created the video series “Take 10 with The Tennessee Tribune.” She is the Managing Partner and Founder of Tea and Conversations, a networking, communications and educational event for women. She served as a juror for the Pulitzer Prize in 2005 and 2006 and led a team that was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in 1992.
