Shirley Carswell

Shirley Carswell is executive director of the Dow Jones News Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting careers in journalism through training and paid summer internships. She spent most of her career at The Washington Post, where she served in a variety of roles, including deputy managing editor responsible for newsroom operations, hiring and staff
development. Before joining the Dow Jones News Fund in 2021, she taught journalism at Howard University, her alma mater. She was a Dow Jones intern in her senior year at Howard.
