Sir Robert Akenhead

Sir Robert has been in continuous practice in the UK since 1973 as a specialist construction law barrister (from 1989 as QC). He has an extensive domestic and international workload in court and in arbitration. His work covered a wide-ranging field of different types of construction and engineering disciplines. He served eight years as High Court Judge dealing with construction, engineering and technology cases, including appeals from and challenges to arbitral awards. He was Judge in Charge of the Technology and Construction Court from 2010 to 2013. Since retiring from the Bench, he has resumed work as an arbitrator, mediator, adjudicator, expert and member of DABs. He has also served as an editor of the Building Law Reports since 1999.
