Stas Zakrzewski AIA, CPHD Stas Zakrzewski [stash zak chef ski] is a principal at ZH Architects located in NYC. ZH’s work focuses on integrating sustainable practices into its current body of modern and design driven work. ZH has recently completed several certified passive house projects in New York City including a three story single family retrofit, a five story adaptive reuse condominium project and most recently a twenty-four story 80/20 affordable housing residential high-rise in Manhattan. Research and development is a key part of the firm’s mission. In 2016, ZH was awarded a grant from the US Forest Service Wood Innovations Grant to study the benefits of combining the construction techniques of Mass Timber and Passive House. ZH has designed a number of Mass Timber projects, exploring the benefits of prefabrication, healthy buildings and high performance enclosures. ZH continuously explores new products and construction techniques and frequently collaborates with product manufacturers in the development of new systems. Stas is a member of the AIA’s Committee for the Environment, Vice President of NYPH and has represented NYPH at the Energy Code Advisory Committee at the NYC Department of Buildings. Stas was selected in January to be an Advisory Board Member for NYC’s Climate Mobilization Act and will be acting as co-chair for the Multifamily working group.
