David A. Casey

Dr. David A. Casey is Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He is a graduate of the UofL School of Medicine, completed a medical internship at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, and residency in psychiatry at the University of Washington. Dr. Casey received his board certification in general psychiatry in 1988 and certificate of added qualification in geriatric psychiatry in 1991 with recertifications in 2001 and 2011. He is a native Kentuckian, having been born in Leitchfield and raised in Louisville.
Dr. Casey has performed research on Alzheimer’s Disease electroconvulsive therapy in the elderly and elder suicide. He has published more than 50 papers and book chapters, and given over 100 presentations locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally on these and other topics.
