Tina McElroy Ansa is co-editor (with Wanda Lloyd) of “MEETING AT THE TABLE: African American Women Write on Race, Culture and Community”. She is also the award-winning author of five novels, including “Baby of the Family, “Ugly Ways” and “The Hand I Fan With”, all set in the fictional town of Mulberry, a community influenced by Macon, Georgia, where Ansa grew up. Ansa began her career after graduating from Spelman College and working as an editor and writer for the Atlanta Constitution and later the Charlotte (NC) Observer. She founded the Sea Island Writers Retreats and she has been a freelance writer for magazines, newspapers, short-story collections, non-fiction anthologies and online publications.
