Vernon got his start in weather in Greenville, Mississippi in 2012, where he became chief meteorologist within his first year there. After three years in Mississippi, Vernon then worked another three years at WSFA-TV in Montgomery, Alabama. The North Carolina native then returned home in 2018, joining Spectrum News 1 in Raleigh where he currently works. Throughout his career, Vernon has covered several winter storms, tornado outbreaks, and historic tropical storms like Hurricane Florence in 2018.
