Vince Watchorn is an independent school leader with more than 25 years working directly with boards of trustees. He is lead faculty of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Fellowship for Aspiring School Heads, a faculty member of the NAIS Institute for New Heads, and editor of the 2018 NAIS Head Search Handbook.
He was head of the Providence Country Day School (RI) for eight years and has been visiting educator at the Ghana International School and consultant to the NAIS Future of Independent Schools Team. He is a graduate and former Trustee of The Tatnall School (DE) and serves as Trustee of Community Preparatory School (RI), Educational Records Bureau, and Penland School of Craft (NC).
Vince has been engaged in strategic diversity work since the late 1980s, serving as a voice for inclusion through his work on strategic planning committees and his various teaching and administrative functions. He has coordinated school-wide diversity symposiums, refined hiring practices, expanded curricular offerings and enrollment access, and broadened school-wide conversations around equity and inclusion. Above all, he is committed to fostering the potential of schools, their leaders, and all students.
