William Wright
Career News and Broadcast Management Professional
William “Will” J. Wright is a career news and broadcast management professional born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He is recognized for his iconoclastic, out-of-the-box thinking that has a positive imprint on how local and network television serve their viewers.
He successfully practiced his inclusionary style as Vice President and News Director at WWOR TV in New York and KRIV-TV in Houston, Texas. Wright has served as General Manager of Cablevision’s HDNews, as well as Executive Producer of the BET Nightly News.
Wright was honored by the National Association of Black Journalists with the Diversity Champion Award. This award is in addition to multiple Emmy awards, including Best Newscast, and the national Edward R. Murrow Award for outstanding news operation.
Prior to his work in academia, Mr. Wright was Manager of Diversity and News Editorial Projects for NBC News and MSNBC. He is currently, an Adjunct Professor at Five Towns College instructing in news management and branding.
